आम के पौधे बड़े आकर के होते है एवं इनकी पत्तियां लम्बी छोटी हरे रंग की होती हैं . नयी पत्तियां लाल या गुलाबी रंग की निकलती हैं . आम ताज़े फलों का राजा कहा जाता है .यह मधुर रसदार फल देता है एवं इसके फलो से विभिन्न उत्पाद बनाये जाते हैं .भाषा और बोली के आधार पर इसके कई नाम है परन्तु सामान्तया इसे आम ही कहा जाता है .
