विवरण :
आबनूस के पेड़ बहुत ही लम्बे और ऊँचे होते है हैं। पत्ते गोल , नोकदार , शीशम के समान होते हैं। इसके छाल काले होते हैं। इसके छाल में खार होता है जो मकान बनाने के काम आता है। भीतर का भाग काला और वजनदार होता है। आबनूस के फल गोल निम्बू समान हरे व शोभायमान होते हैं जो पकने पर पीले रंग के हो जाते हैं।
गुण :
आबनूस का कच्चा फल ग्राही , बातकारक,शीतल और हल्का होता है। इसका पका फल मधुर तथा भारी होता है एवं यह पित्त, प्रमेह , रक्तविकार और कफ को नष्ट करने वाला होता है। आबनूस प्रयोगात्मक प्रकार 2 मधुमेह में हाइपरग्लीसेमिया, हाइपरलिपिडेमिया और संवर्धित ऑक्सीडेटिव तनाव में बहुत ही उपयोगी माना जाता है।

An account:
Ebony trees are very tall . The leaves are round, pointed, like shisham. Its bark is black. Its bark contains salt which is used for building houses. The inner part is black and heavy. Ebony fruits are round lemon-like green and ornamental, which turn yellow when ripe.
Quality:
The raw fruit of ebony is receptive, talkative, cool and light. Its ripe fruit is sweet and heavy and destroys bile, diabetes, blood disorders and phlegm. Ebony experimental type 2 is considered very useful in hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and augmented oxidative stress in type 2 diabetes.
